Conditions of Participation

COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Citizenship of a European country including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS*), Turkey, and Israel. * These include: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazachstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. Also eligible are contestants from Georgia and Ukraine.
  • Proof of piano studies
  • Age requirements: Participants must have been born between 1993 and 2008
  • Applications in German or English
  • Upon registering, competitors agree to these rules and regulations. A registration will only be valid with complete documents. Only applications with all details of movements and durations will be accepted. Moreover, the registration fee (80 €) must be paid in advance.
  • The first round of the competition is a preselection round by video. The artistic direction will decide about the admission of contestants for the preselection. The candidates will be informed of the respective decision no later than mid-September 2023. The Jury will rate the videos of the preselection round and decide about the admission to the quarter-final. The contestants will be informed about the results on 1st December 2023 at the latest. A maximum of 20 contestants will be admitted to the quarter-final round taking place in Bremen.
  • The selected candidates must personally register at the competition office on 6th February 2024. The competitors must remain in Bremen for the duration of the competition.
  • The order of performance will be drawn.
  • Upon registering, the participants agree to take part in a concert/concerts of the audience development programme (including ‘Klasse ←→Klavier’) if they are nominated for this by the Jury or competition management.
  • After the quarter-final round (‘Schubert Round’), the six competitors with the highest scores will be admitted to the semi-final. After the semi-final round three finalists will be nominated.
  • The public announcement of the prize winners and the prize award ceremony will take place at the end of the final orchestra concert.
  • The decisions of the Jury are final and legally binding. Any appeal to legal action is excluded.
  • The contestants agree that their performances may be recorded and broadcasted by television and radio, streamed in the Internet, published online or photographically documented and published. All rights of the recordings and their distribution belong to Landesmusikrat Bremen e.V.
