Bremer Philharmoniker

The Orchestra for Bremen

From philharmonic concerts to opera, crossover projects to chamber music, charity concerts to the promotion of young musicians - the Bremer Philharmoniker and its General Music Director Marko Letonja are the fundamental pillar of north-west German musical life thanks to their wide-ranging artistic commitment. With a history of around two hundred years, the Bremer Philharmoniker is one of the world’s most traditional orchestras. As a large philharmonic orchestra, it is ideally suited for symphonies from the Romantic repertoire. They also dedicate themselves with great passion to works from the classical period and with convincing enthusiasm to compositions from the 20th century. Contemporary composers also appreciate the Bremer Philharmoniker for its open-mindedness and interest in world premieres. With its diverse concert series and the varied events organised by its music workshop, the Bremer Philharmoniker can be experienced almost every day. The Philharmonic Concerts and the Afterwork Concerts form a centrepiece. There are also numerous special concerts and opera performances at Bremen Theatre. Chamber music series and a wide range of programmes for children and young people complete the programme. The orchestra does not limit itself to making music in established cultural venues, but takes its cultural mission much further: it is committed to social and charitable causes - in the firm conviction that culture is an essential part of a society worth living in.
